Rev. John Thill
As a professional in elder care and aging issues since 1995 and a pastor for 28 years before that I have been acutely aware of the needs of families and individuals related to transportation for aging persons. I have personally dealt with many persons and families going through the challenge of dealing with this problem.
Having an alternative means of meeting the transportation needs of aging persons which would relieve the trauma of giving up driving privileges is an essential tool in helping people navigate the later years. Mr. Everett "Hammond’s Ride Guide" is a marvelous, well thought out and practical guide to address this need.
"Hammonds’s Ride Guide" clearly addresses the issues and solutions of dealing with this challenge and is a help to professionals, families and the individuals who are facing the decisions related to the cessation of driving. Giving hope and direction to finding alternative means of dealing with transportation needs, as this guide does, will be a help to all involved.
In my work with aging persons and those who care for them one of the biggest difficulties is denial. By presenting this outstanding guide, Mr. Hammond has created a means to deal with the denial and creatively suggests new ways of looking at transportation needs when driving is no longer an option.
I commend Mr. Hammond and his guide to any who need to deal with this challenge.
